Historical data
The Tupolev Tu-22M3 is a long-range supersonic bomber developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Designed by the Tupolev design bureau, the aircraft entered service in the 1980s as an upgraded version of the earlier Tu-22M series. It was created to carry out maritime strike missions, strategic bombing, and reconnaissance operations.
The Tu-22M3 is powered by twin turbojet engines and features variable-sweep wings, allowing it to fly efficiently at both high and low speeds. The bomber can carry a wide range of weapons, including cruise missiles and conventional bombs. Its high speed and long operational range make it one of the most important strike aircraft in the Russian Air Force.
Over the years, the Tu-22M3 has been used in several military operations and remains in active service today. Modernization programs continue to improve its navigation, targeting, and weapon systems, helping the aircraft remain effective in modern warfare.
The 1/144 scale TU-22M3 model kit consists of a total of 3 runners:
0595-8A1, 0595-8A2, and 0595-8B.
Outside of the runners, there is also a cockpit canopy and 2 stand parts.
So in total, there are 60 parts that need to be assembled.
This model kit is pretty simple and beginner-friendly. During assembly, you don’t need any cement glue, similar to Revell Snaptite kits.
For finishing, you’ll still need additional paint, since the box doesn’t include extra paint accessories or sticker labels/decals.
Unlike the C130 and H6K model kits, this one is the most complicated to assemble.
The TU-22M3 model kit has the following features:
The left and right main wings can move, expanding and folding back.
The missile bay can be opened and closed.
The missiles can rotate.
All the wheels can roll and are not fixed/static.
